WELCOME FROM THE STUDENTS' LAW SOCIETY
Congratulations on your admission to UofT Law, Class of 2029!
On behalf of the Students’ Law Society, I am delighted to welcome you to the University of Toronto Faculty of Law.
I am sure you will find your time here exciting, intellectually stimulating, and challenging in the best possible ways. The UofT Law community is strong because of its diverse, thoughtful, and brilliant students, and I am confident that each of you will add something unique to this community. Regardless of your professional or educational background, the path that brought you here, or the future you are working toward, remember that you have made it up to this point because you already possess the skills, resilience, and dedication it takes to succeed here.
During your time here, you will find an extraordinary range of opportunities, events, and extracurriculars to explore – from moots and clinical programs to law journals and student governance. With over 50 student-led clubs, including everything from the Criminal Law Students’ Association (CLSA) to the Law Poets Society, I am confident you will find communities that reflect your interests and values. You will also have opportunities to take on leadership roles, to help shape the social and community life, and to leave your own mark on this institution.
One of the highlights of life at UofT Law is the vibrant community that goes beyond the classroom. Throughout the year, you will find countless opportunities to connect with your classmates through spirit days, movie nights, ski trips, weekly “Call to the Bar” social nights, and of course our Annual Law Ball. These and many other traditions are often some of the most memorable parts of law school. I hope you will make the most out of them as you embark on this next chapter.
Through your time at UofT Law you will find that law school is not only about mastering the law, but about discovering the kind of lawyer, advocate, and person you hope to become. As you begin this journey, allow your passion and curiosity to lead you. Trust in your ability to grow, adapt, and thrive. Believe in your capacity to succeed and remember to allow your brilliance to shine so that the whole community can benefit.
Once again, congratulations on your admission. The UofT Law community looks forward to learning with you and supporting you in the years ahead.
