Moot - Competitive Moot Coach

JD Course Code: LAW440H1S

Description

Student coaches work with mooters to help shape their performance and improve their oral and written advocacy skills.  Coaches will write a paper of 2500 to 3000 words on a topic related to the problem, but not duplicative of the factum writing the mooters do.  If the student coach is a primary author of the mooting problem that meets the paper writing requirement. They organize practice rounds and keep a log of factum-writing and run through meetings.

Selection: In order to receive credit in this course, a student must be selected and serve as a student coach to one of the competitive moots for which mooters receive academic credit.

Enrolment:  Email Sara Faherty (sara.faherty@utoronto.ca) before the add/drop deadline to ask to be enrolled in this credit.

Evaluation

Coaches requesting credit must submit their paper of 2500 to 3000 words (or the mooting problem they authored) and the log of coaching activities to the associate dean's office through the assignments.law@utoronto email address.
