Julie Thorburn
Julie Thorburn was appointed to the Ontario Court of Appeal in 2019. Prior to that, she was Team lead of the Divisional Court and a member of the Superior Court of Justice. Justice Thorburn was also appointed to sit in the Northwest Territories in 2009.
She is a member of the Civil Rules Committee and is the Ontario Court of Appeal’s representative on the Canadian Superior Court Judges’ Association.
She was on the International Board of Directors and President of the Canadian Chapter of the International Association of Women Judges, a group of over 800 women judges from around the world. She is co-author of the Report for the Ontario Attorney General entitled Improving Access to Justice in French and spearheaded a pilot project to implement those recommendations.
