John A. Tory Lecture
We are pleased to invite you to the annual John A. Tory Lecture at the Henry N.R. Jackman Faculty of Law, made possible by the generous support of the Tory family.
In his talk, Justice Marshall Rothstein will be exploring the active dialogue between the courts and parliament in tax law, illustrating the enduring tension between taxpayers’ attempts at legitimate tax planning and parliament’s ongoing efforts to restrain tax avoidance. This session will be moderated by Terry Burgoyne (LLB 1981), retired partner and general counsel emeritus with Osler, Hoskin & Harcourt LLP.
This lecture has been organized with the guidance and support of Jackman Law Professor & Osler Chair in Business Law, Benjamin Alarie (JD/MA ’02).
